The Fantom Drives terms of warranty explicitly disclaim any tampering to the product including opening the case, and replacing any component inside the chassis is explicitly disclaimed as a warrantable action. That said, all Micronet/Fantom Drives current as of 2012 use standard SATA disks, and should work with any SATA disks with the caveat that not all models can support >2TB disks or >2TB volumes; Please submit a support request with a specific model in mind.
