Disk drive manufacturers use the base 10-gigabyte measurement, which defines a GByte as 1000 x 1000 x 1000. Some operating systems report disk capacity using Base 2 nomenclature, which define a GByte as 1024 x 1024 x 1024. Regardless of which scheme is used, there is exactly the same amount of usable capacity, and no capacity is missing.
The MicroNet device reports disk capacity that is only 93% of the stated size. (i.e., my 1.0 TB hard disk is showing up in Windows as 931 GB) Where is the missing capacity? Print
